About us
We are a film production company based in Bucharest, Romania, set up in March 2004 by Corneliu Porumboiu (director, scriptwriter) and shared with Marcela Ursu (producer). Our position on the national film market is a particular one, defined by our arthouse projects.
Considered one of the most important directors of the new wave in the Romanian cinema, Corneliu Porumboiu has presented ina particular manner subjects of local and international interest, which brought in theatres accross the world thousands of viewers.
Our first autonomous production is the feature 12:08 East of Bucharest (2006, written and directed by Corneliu Porumboiu), an independent project, winner of Camera d'Or Prize and Label Cinema Europe at Cannes Film Festival 2007.
Our second project, Police, Adjective (2009, written and directed by Corneliu Porumboiu), won Jury's Prize and FIPRESCI award in 2009 Cannes Un Certain Regard section.
In 2010 we co-produced the independent project The Belly of the Whale, written and directed by debutant Ana Szel and Ana Lungu. The film was selected in the out-of-competition section of Locarno and Vancouver Film Festivals.
Our next work, When Evening Falls on Bucharest or Metabolism (2013, written and directed by Corneliu Porumboiu), had its premiere at the Locarno Film Festival and was an official selection of both Toronto and New York Film Festivals.
In 2014 we produced The Second Game (directed by Corneliu Porumboiu), our first non-fictional film, selected in the Forum section of the 44th edition of Berlinale.
Corneliu Porumboiu's fifth feature, The Treasure (2015), was awardedwith ‘Un Certain Talent’ in the section ‘Un Certain Regard’ of Cannes Film Festival.
In 2016 we produced Dogs (written and directed by Bogdan Mirică). The film won FIPRESCI prize at 2016 Cannes Film Festival edition.
In 2018 we produced Infinite Football (directed by Corneliu Porumboiu), our second non-fictional film, selected in the Forum section of the 68th edition of Berlinale.
Our next work, La Gomera | The Whistlers (2019, written and directed by Corneliu Porumboiu), had its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival, 72 edition, official selection.
